Delightful Challenges Thursday

Good Morning!  It's Thursday - we're on the downhill side of the week heading into a holiday weekend (here in the States).  I'm looking forward to some crafting, crafting and more crafting.

This week's challenge is ready for you to play at Delightful Challenges and this week we're Making the Cut....

Die Cuts, Decorative Scissors or Punches

Recently I got a new Spellbinder die set called Ironwork Accents.  I love this set!  It's so versatile.  It can be elegant or even manly.  My card features the adorable Flower Power Rosie.

If you're my friend on Facebook, this is card that I was upset that I couldn't find the paper I was looking for.  But this one worked, too.

Well, I'm off to work so you have a great Thursday and come join us!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #213

Good Morning!  Happy Tuesday.  One of my favorite days of the week because we have a new sketch up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and we have a favorite sponsor - Bugaboo is back with us!  Now Jodi is always so generous and gives us images to play with.  I got one and boy did I royally mess it up.  Oh my stars did it come out bad.  So I scratched the whole idea and I am really glad I did, because I came up with this....

I love how this card turned out!  I pulled out yet another hoarded kit that was so full of great papers, I can create more cards with it.  This is BBrat Sitter Balloon and I think she's a doll.  So I can't tell you about the papers, I haven't got a clue, but this person included 3 sheet of each design, these great metal embellishments and the pretty grosgrain ribbon.

So here's a tip if you don't have your ribbon stored on a round spool, this particular ribbon was wrapped around a piece of card stock, so you know it creases.  If you have wrinkled, creased ribbon and you own a flat iron (my case - my daughter's flat iron), these are perfect to iron out your ribbon!

Well, I do hope to see you playing along with us at TMS this week.  Have a great day.

The Pink Elephant Monday

Hello!  I hope you had a great weekend.  I sure did.  Saturday I went over to a friends house and we cooked and enjoyed a few drinks and just had a great time.  The Sunday, I laid around all day.  Good times!

So this week's challenge at The Pink Elephant is....

BACK TO SCHOOL

This is a popular theme this time of year!  I had a lot of fun scrapbooking some older photos of Levi and some of the kids in the neighborhood we lived in.  Lower left, the kid in red... that one is Levi.  He was sooo little - it's amazing how a few years has changed him.

It was great fun to play with some pre-loaded elements in My Memories Suite.  The page was quick and easy and turned out great.

Join us at The Pink Elephant and lets see your back to school projects.

Deedee's Digis - It's back!!!

Good Morning - Happy Sunday everyone.  I don't have a card to share with you.... yet.  But I wanted to tell you that Deedee's Digis is back!  And I'm back, too, as a design team member for her.  I adore Deedee and her sweet images and was thrilled when she contacted me about her new store.  I am excited to be back on her team.

So, the store is housed at Diane's Daydream Designs but you can directly visit Deedee's by clicking here.  Be sure to visit the blog, too.  There is a super cute freebie available to kick off the store's opening.

So I'll be back later to post a card using one of the fantastic sets that's available in the store right now!

OK - I'm back.  I had my card done earlier today, I just now was able to take a picture.  What do you think?  I used a pre-colored digi from digital stamp set Fall Teddies.

I created the card using a great sketch from i {heart} sketches.

Digital Delights Thursday

Good Morning!  Happy Thursday - it's  been another pretty quick week for me.  I hope it's been what you needed it to be.

This week's challenge at Digital Delights is celebrating this time of year....

BACK TO SCHOOL
(use primary colors)

I love it when the kids go back to school, they're getting back into their routines and socializing with friends and teachers.  I know my sister isn't all that excited - she posted on Facebook the other day that she woke herself up because she was talking... she was giving a writing lesson!  LOL

So I am using pre-colored Bookyworm.  He's so adorable and made it so easy and quick to put this card together.  I pulled out yet another one of those card kits.  I don't remember what image was inside but I do remember it wasn't stamped very well, so it went in the trash.  Primary colors are definitely not my forte but the paper in the kit really started of the base of this card.  I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches, and forgot the bow (again) and in about 10 minutes, my card was complete.  Easy peasy.

I do hope you'll join us at Delightful Challenges.  We're sponsored by:

Enjoy your day.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #212

Good Morning!  OK - Sunday's night crisis is adverted and peace has been restored (for the moment) in my house.  LOL

This week's sketch is up at TMS and it's a fun one, I think.  I drew it up in the MyMemories Suite software using the digi papers and embellishments that come with the software.  I think it looks great, I hope you think so, too.

Here's my card.... yes, I forgot the bow.

My card features stamps from this week's sponsor, DRS Designs.  Jenny Giraffe and Child's Love sentiment.  I think I need to make another card with this giraffe stamp because it is soooo cute!

Well, head on over to the TMS blog to play along.  Come on - it'll be fun!

The Pink Elephant Challenge Monday

Hi everyone! Happy Monday to you.  I hope you had a great weekend.  Mine was nice until last night when my two youngest children decided to engage in drama.  *sigh* Even great teenagers can have their moments.

At any rate, this week's challenge at The Pink Elephant is up and ready for you to enjoy.  This week's is....

ANYTHING GOES

This one threw me a little since my role on this team is scrapbooking.  So I took it as I could make my scrapbook page any way that I wanted it.

So I created this page featuring my pretty, little Grandma.  I miss her so much.  I have to admit, most of the page was already put together, but I added the photo and embellishments.  I couldn't believe how well this all matched her lovely sweater.  This picture of her was taken in 1998 and she passed 4 years later.  She is no further from me than my heart.

I hope you come join us this week.  It's an easy challenge, so why not?!

Your Next Stamp Design Team Call

Hello.  Happy Sunday afternoon.  I did something today that I haven't done in a very long time... I made cards to play along with challenges.  Actually, that wasn't entirely my motivation, I have been going back and forth on applying for the DT call at Your Next Stamp.  It's for the new digi-team they are putting together.  I posted about this awhile back when YNS sponsored Tuesday Morning Sketches.

So I decided to pull up my bootstraps and apply.  So part of the application process is to create 3 projects and post about it on your own blog.  I also incorporated some challenges the I love, but haven't played along with in a really long time.  So here it goes, for my first card....

This card features washi tape, card stock by Raisin Boat (Orange Tree), a stamp that believe it or is actually a dress, but I loved the texture and sentiments by Papertrey Ink.  The layout is a sketch from Clean & Simple and the colors Green, Aqua and Orange from CAS-ual Fridays.

Up next doesn't follow a challenge but was so much fun to make!  Talk about using stuff around the house.

I wrapped plain ol' aluminum foil around a piece of card stock and embossed it with the Diamond Plate embossing folder by Cuttlebug.  I can't credit for the idea, I found several versions on You Tube.  One of them had you fold layers layers of foil, but that was really hard to cut to size when it was done.  So I thought to myself that it would probably work just fine with card stock.  And it did.  It held up quite nicely.

Looks like real diamond plate!  The stamps I used are from Inkadinkadoo and My Favorite Things.

And for my last card....

This card features a sketch at Crazy 4 Challenges.  I pulled out another card kit and some new dies that I got for my birthday.  This was fun.  This features stamps from CC Designs. I honestly don't even know if they're available anymore.

At first glance, to me, I thought she was a chic bug.... but then realized (duh!) that she's wearing sunglasses.  So I added some Diamond Glaze and white gel pen to create the frame and lenses.

I hope you enjoyed my projects.  And now I'm crossing my fingers and toes.

Delightful Challenges Thursday

Good Morning!  Happy Thursday.  It's been a great week so far and now we're on the downhill side of it.  Can't get any better than that, except if it were a payday Friday.  LOL

This week's challenge is up and ready for you to play along at Delightful Challenges and this week it's...

ANYTHING BUT A CARD

So this type of challenge generally means something to decorate the home or use as gift giving.  So I was off to create something that I haven't before.

Let me show you what I made....

I was perusing many of my favorite inspirational sites and came upon a drawer box that was created by a friend of my sister's, Holly - it was on Splitcoast and of course, Beatte Johns did the video for it.  Well, I liked it but I wasn't too crazy about the different measurements and having to put two pieces together to create the outer piece.  I can never get the exact same measurement twice!  Holly's box is also to hold A2 cards and I wanted to create a gift box.

So I set out to make my own using the same concepts.  I created the outer piece using 1 piece of card stock.  It measures 9 1/2 x 4 1/4 and using my trusty Scor-Pal, it's scored at 1", 4 1/4", 5 1/4" and 8 1/2".  The drawer piece measures 5 1/2" square and scored at 1" on all 4 sides.

I used Ballerina Bobbi.  I printed her twice, colored one all nice and pretty and the other with general colors for dimension and to hide the toothpick between two layers.

I made the hydrangea base with a half of a styrofoam ball and a bunch of little flowers that I cupped and glued to the ball.  Then I added Bobbi to it by shoving the sharp end of the toothpick through one of the flowers and into the stryofoam.

This was a really fun project and will be given to a little girl (Hollyanne's best friend's little sister) who will be 5 soon and is just starting dance classes.  We'll find a pretty little necklace to go inside.  When I showed this to my kids, my oldest son asked if she twirled around and music played.  Yeah... uh... no... momma is not that talented, but it's nice that my kids think so.

Head on over to Delightful Challenges to play along - and challenge yourself.  Have fun!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #211

Good Morning.... actually it's nearly 11pm Monday night and can you believe it I almost forgot to post my TMS post.  Not only here, but on the TMS blog. Sheesh!  I'm going to chalk it up to having homework tonight.  You know, all the stuff you have to fill out and sign after the first day of school.  But really, Levi and I got to watching Gator Boys and I forgot the time!  LOL

Anyway, so the challenge is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches - great new sketch by Laura and it's the Judged Challenge so we're adding Buttons and/or Bows.

I'm using a pre-colored image from a set called Bugs & Blooms.  This was drawn by my friend Deedee Anderson.  It comes with pretty digi papers, too, also featured.  Our sponsor this week is Clearly Digital Stamps!

Hope you join us!  I'm off to bed.... ahem... I mean to work.  Happy Tuesday.

Pink Elephant Monday

Good Morning everyone!  I had a fabulous weekend, so I hope you did, too.  I love long weekends.  I had a great day with the kids on Thursday at the beach.  We did get a little sunburned.  SPF 50 - yeah, right!  Read the bottle later, apply every 80 minutes.  Oops!  Friday, I don't remember much... went to DMV to renew my tags, went grocery shopping.  I'm sure there was other stuff in there, I just can't remember what.  Saturday was spent getting Hollyanne's hair trimmed and I went to Hobby Lobby.  Yay!  And Sunday was just another laid back day.  And today the kids head back to school.  That's it for me.

So let's talk challenge at The Pink Elephant.  It's ready for you to play along this week it's a color challenge...

ORANGE

I had a lot of fun with this challenge.  I got a great digi kit from My Memories Suite that was super inexpensive and it allowed me to play with a favorite picture of the kids that we took when we went to the pumpkin patch one year.  They are pretty little here.  The weather was gorgeous and they had so much fun.

I played around with layers and embellishments and I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.  It's bright and cheery.  I hope you play along, too.

Delightful Challenges Thursday

Good Morning!  I hope you're all having a great week.  My week is officially over!  Whoo-hoo.  Today is my birthday so I am heading to the beach for the day with the kids.  They start back to school on Monday, so I wanted to be able to spend some time with them, too.

This week's challenge is ready for you to play along at Delightful Challenges and this week we're...

Making it Pop!
(layers)

So, I started with a my card base from one of the hoarded kits.  The kit actually came from friend and TMS DT member, Angela.  I put the sweet Easter images aside and used this fabulous paper.  I'm hoping I can convince her to cut me some more of those fabulous leaves and flower.  Then I added Flower Power Basket of Daisies.  I am loving this series of characters.  So darn cute!  And having grown up in a flower shop, I guess I'm just drawn to them naturally.

I am still playing with Debbie's great sketch - it couldn't have been more perfect for this card.  I printed her twice so that I can layer up her hat.  I colored it and then ran thru the Cuttlebug with that weave pattern embossing plate by Stampin' Up!  This gave her a straw hat.

Then out came the pop dots!  I layered the hat, the image on the scalloped mat and then popped up the flower.  Fun right?

Well, come on over to the Delightful Challenges blog to see more great projects.  Have a great Thursday.  I'm off to slather on the sunscreen.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #210

Hello my friends!  Happy Tuesday.  I had a great Monday, I worked from home and I just love that.  It's so laid back and I seem to accomplish so much.

The sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and this one was created by our sweet Debbie.  This sketch is so versatile as you'll see with all the great cards that were created by the team.  Here's what I'm made with an adorably pre-colored image in the set called Pretty Petunias.

I'm still playing with my stash of card kits.  This couldn't have worked better with this pretty image.  I created the sentiment and this card is in the mail to my momma for the recent loss of her brother.  My Uncle Chris was buried Friday.  I missed the funeral but I understand he was interred with great honor.

And hey!  You know what I just realized.... this looks like my sister Karin's tattoo.  LOL!

OK - head on over to TMS to play along with us.

The Pink Elephant Monday

Good Morning!  Happy Monday!  I do hope your weekend was a great one.  Mine was very busy - my weekend was filled with shopping for school clothes and supplies.  The kids go back to school on Monday (whoo-hoo!) so it was time to get them ready.

This week's challenge is ready, too, for The Pink Elephant.  This week we're playing with....

TEXTURE

This was a little tough for me since I've taken on doing digital scrapbooking.  But I think I captured it in this page.

I think I achieved it with the burlap strap in the middle and all the pattern papers.  And then that sweet crocheted embellishment I found.  This picture of those two sweet, adorable little girls are my sisters.  Theresa is on the right.  I think they are probably 3 and 4 years old - I wasn't invented yet.

The layout is a sneak preview of tomorrow's sketch for Tuesday Morning Sketches.

The digi pack that I used is available at the MyMemories Suite shop, it's called The View by Luv Ewe Designs.  It's only 99 cents.  What a great deal!

Delightful Challenges

Good Morning!  The week has gotten progressively better and now we're on the downhill side!  I like that, I always look forward to the weekend, but who doesn't.  Tomorrow is my uncle's funeral and I am sad that I won't be there.  A roundtrip flight to Denver is not in my budget, but I don't want to remember him that way.  I personally prefer the memories of happier times.

Alright - let's talk challenges!  The one for Delightful Challenges is up and it coincides with the newest release of mini-super heroes.  This release is so darn cute!

Stars or Sparkle

I am using Captain Colin....

Also featured are Super Hero Sentiments and Super Hero Digital Paper Pack.  This made for a super easy and super quick card!  My son Levi did inform me that I didn't color Captain America right.  And I informed him that this is Captain Colin and he look however he wants to look!  He laughed at me.  The sentiment wasn't supposed to look like a rocket either, but it reminds me of one.  LOL

We'll see you over at Delightful Challenges - have a great day!
