Tuesday Morning Sketches #388

Good Morning!  The sketch is up at TMS and I am so glad we're revisiting this sketch.  Patti picked one of her sketches for us to play with.  Our sponsor this week is A Day for Daisies but I didn't use one their images this time.  My printer is acting weird.  It's printing like it's almost out of ink but the ink levels aren't low.

So I am playing with technique and a stamp set I treated myself to months ago but just haven't used it yet.  The stamp set is by Hero Arts.  The technique is an oldie but a goodie - emboss resist.  I'm still working on perfecting my ink blending skills, but overall the card is pretty and I think is a great notecard that will only need a single stamp to mail.

I stamped the branch and sentiment with Versa-Mark and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  Then I used a round ink blending tool to apply 4 colors of Distress Ink.  I used a couple of those same colors to stamp the flowers.  This is where I changed the sketch a little - the sketch shows the 3 elements as being smaller - I went with them covering that vertical panel.  Overall, the card was easy to do, done in about 15 minutes and like I said, will only take one postage stamp to mail.

Please head on over to the TMS blog and see all the inspiration the team is sharing with you - they are fantastic.  If I'm not mistaken, looks like Wanda has a different fold on her card.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #387

Hello! Thank you for stopping by.  The sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches, it's another revisited sketch and it was my pick this time.  I love this sketch by Debbie.  I admit I look a little creative license with it, but still so much fun!

My card was very quick to put together.  It's a simple sentiment that I cut using my Silhouette Portrait.  The sentiment I got from the Silhouette Online store and then I drew the box around it so that it cut in one piece.  The rest is pretty basic and then I dressed it a little with a few sequins.

The paper is from the stack I picked up for my planner.  In hind sight, it wasn't completely the right choice, but still it was quick and that's what I needed.  I'm sending this to my sister to say thank you for the knitted items she sent me that the baby card shared recently goes with.

Thank you for stopping by and we'll see you over at the TMS blog.  Be sure to leave my team some love.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #386

Hello!  Thank you for stopping by.  I am so glad that you did.  The re-visited sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and our challenge is sponsored by Bugaboo Digital Stamps.

My card features Clyde Birthday.  My printer ran out of ink so if this looks a little off, it's because I had to trace in the lines.  I couldn't opt to use something else because Jodie is always so generous and provides our team with images.  So I add that little disclaimer that Jodie's artwork is still flawless, my tracing however, well you know....

Remember about a month ago I mentioned making Christmas cards for the foster kids in my area?  Well, normally the donation is birthday cards.  They send about 150 birthday cards each month.  I personally can't make a dent in that amount, but it's time to start creating birthday cards to contribute however many I can.  So this is the first of many cards.  I need come up with one or two designs to mass produce each month.

My card also features a new embossing folder that I picked up on sale.  It's called Multi Sized Dots - that's creative, eh?  I love it though, it's so whimsical!  The sentiment is a sticker that I got in one of the blooper packages of embellishments from Freckled Fawn.  I don't know why they call them bloopers - I never found anything wrong or off on anything I received.

Please join us at TMS blog, we'd love to have you play along.  Don't forget to leave some love for my design team.  They're the best and deserve a little recognition.  Have a great day!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #385

Hi friends!  Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today.  Our re-visit sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches, this week's sketch was picked by Debbie. I like this one, too.

I have a friend who just had a beautiful baby girl.  I don't crochet anymore, but I had started a baby blanket a long time ago and I just couldn't get anywhere with it.  Crocheting just causes too much pain.  So I pulled it all out and balled up the yarn.  I used all the skeins that I had to package up something that I sent my sister.  She knits, so I told her she can either use it for something or give it away or throw it away.  She made a lovely blanket, hat, sweater and doll out of the yarn.  I honestly didn't know there was that much yarn!  Well, she sent it all to me and now I have a gift for Andrea's baby.  Here's the card I made to go with it....

Before I go further, a very long time ago, which prompted the birth of Tuesday Morning Sketches, a couple of friends of mine and I took turns hosting challenges on our blogs.  My very first challenge was to create a card using as much embossing as possible before breaching the tacky line.  I decided to do the same with this otherwise pretty plain card front.  The reason it's so plain is because the inside is where all the magic and hard work went....

I used a pop up card kit by Lori Whitlock.  Isn't this cute!  Oh my goodness, I love how this turned out.  It's a 5x7 card, which really made the card front challenging.  But all in all, I think she'll love it.

Please join us at the TMS blog to play along.  See you there!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #384

Good Morning and Happy New Year!  We're back to our weekly sketch challenges at Tuesday Morning Sketches and we're beginning our customary last year sketch revisits.  Janice picked our sketch this week.

Before I get to my card, I have to tell you.... I did not have the midas touch at all.  Everything was just turning to sludge!  I've been working on my 2017 planner that I guess I couldn't get into card mode.  So I didn't fight with it anymore.  I decided create this card using some of the papers from this year's planner design.  I'm not usually one for hot pink but this just made me so happy and at 70% off at Michaels - it made me ecstatic!

I created this card using a die that is new.  Actually I got this some time ago and finally opened it.  It's a Spellbinders Die D-Lites die - Medallion One.  I think when I got it my intention was Christmas cards, but I forgot all about it.  I did some embossing with rectangle die and then cut out the medallion.  This is actually a two die set - there is a frame that will cut out to create a positive image.  Then I pulled out the Spellbinder foliage dies and cut a couple of leaves.  And then... talk about oooolllllddd.  I pulled out some flower dies that I got when I got my Cuttlebug.  My Cuttlebug and I have been roommates for over 10 years.  I also used some gold washi tape that Michaels had on sale for half off.  The sentiment is from a Hello stamp set by Hero Arts.

This card took HOURS to get done - but when I finally got it figured out, I'm pretty happy with the results.  It's just by the time I did get it done, dusk was upon me so the photography is horrible!

Anyway, I hope to see you over at TMS blog to play along.  My design team is refreshed and ready to go.  Just wait til you see....your jaw is gonna drop when you see Debbie's card.

Have a great day!
